From another embarrassment from Spurs, to Hull going 2 from 2. What are the biggest moments from the second gameweek of the Premier League?

What's going on at Spurs?

    After a 2-0 defeat at home to Newcastle. The alarm bells are ringing at Tottenham with a second loss from two games, conceding 5 without scoring in the process. Two second half goals from Anthony Elanga and a stunning overhead kick from Yoane Wissa condemned a lacklustre Spurs to defeat.  It was a sloppy performance from Tottenham who showed little conviction when going forward. This combined with defensive mistakes and a lack of squad cohesion where the factors of their demise.

    With many talented players coming in during the Transfer Window, such as Omar Marmoush and Savio from Man City, this makes these losses even more worrying as with a team like that, you should be beating Newcastle. They have rebuilt their whole squad with new players who have more talent to their predecessors. Due to this, it could be that the squad hasn't jelled yet as this is a whole new bunch of players trying to play with each other for the first time.

    On the other hand, It was a sublime showing for Matthias Jaisse's Newcastle who has impressed in first couple of games at the helm of Newcastle. He set his team up well and absorbed all of Tottenham's 58% possession and excellently caught them out on the counter attack. Both their shots on target went in and it showed ruthlessness in the attacking third. 

    It is an away trip to Forest for Spurs as they hope to score their first goal and record their first points in the Premier League. For Newcastle, they go into a home game against Bournemouth in which they will be expecting to win.

Who can't be mauled by the Tigers?

    Following a 2-0 win against Man United on the opening day, Hull City have maintained their 100% record by beating Coventry City 1-0 away from home with Liam Millar slotting it past Carl Rushworth 1v1 in the 82nd minute to give the Tigers a massive 3 points against a fellow promoted team. 

    It was a solid defensive performance from Hull with them withstanding 69% possession and 8 shots from Coventry City who where in control of the game and didn't deserve to lose with their attacking threat. Just like against Man United, they took their chances well and defended with everything on the line. After being written off by everyone at the start of the season, Hull it's have silenced the doubters and are smashing the opening stages of the Premier League. However, after seeing their performances in their first two games, they could be found out and teams will have a way to unlock their low block as it may not work every game.

    On the Coventry side, it was a promising performance that lacked conviction and flair up front, they created some very good chances but couldn't convert. Their wait for a goal and win in the Premier League continues with some encouraging signs being shown.

     It doesn't get any easier fro Cov as it's Man City away on Saturday. For the victors, Aston Villa at home is their next game as they hope to make it 3 from 3.

A crushing win for Chelsea

    Xabi Alonso's Chelsea show no signs of stopping after a 4-3 win against Brighton. The game got off to a great start with Latvia, Neto and Pedro putting the Blues into a commanding lead after just 32 minutes. Brighton then responded with goals either side of half time, Cole Palmer then restored their 2 goal cushion with Pascal Groß netting in stoppage time for Brighton.

    It was another commanding performance from Chelsea, who have scored 7 goals in the first 2 games. They recorded 15 shots despite 25% possession, scoring 80% of their shots on target. This shows a high volume of goalscorers and attacking flai in their attacking line. Brighton recorded 14 shots with 5 being on target too, this complements their defense as this proves that they are solid in defense and can take their chances. One issue for Chelsea will be their goals conceded, they have let in 5 goals in high scoring affairs. If this continues, low blocks may be an issue as they will just defend and lump it up and hit them on the break. The signing of EMI Martinez has helped this as he is an elite shot stopper who prevents errors that Sanchez can, and did, make.

    For Brighton it was a performance that showed that they can come back into games and that their squad is mentally strong, they recorded nearly the exact same stats as Chelsea, just they were less clinical. It is still a good start for Fabian Hurzeler's side.

    It's an away trip to the Champions for Chelsea in a London Derby against Arsenal, with a home tie for Brighton against Leeds.
